VOBRA Launched: Medical students and Nurse practitioners were trained about Rheumatic Heart Disease

On 11th, January 2020, more than 30 nurse practitioners and medical student volunteers were gathered in UR-Huye campus for one day training. The training was about Rheumatic Heart Disease eradication. This was prepared by VOBRA Project of Rwanda Village Community Promoters (RVCP). VOBRA, Voluntary Based Rheumatic Heart Disease Action Project aims at creating RHD action heroes’ community which will innovatively catalyze a transformational change consigning RHD to history books of Rwanda. At the end of prenatal health project 2019, women are able to detect and prevent hypertension, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia and proteinuria.

Maternal health is among important areas of focus in Rwanda where the government has put a lotof effort to improve and sustain both antenatal and postnatal health care and wellbeing.Despite, all these efforts maternal mortality remains high where 290 deaths/100000 live birthshave been recorded in 2015 according to the Rwanda demographic survey.
