Let Little Children Come to Me (LLCCM) is a registered non-governmental, non-political, community based voluntary organisation in Rwanda. It was founded in May 2003 by volunteers in the Southern province of Rwanda to help children affected by HIV/AIDS, HIV and the genocide and is currently supporting 107 children.
It is dedicated to helping orphans through their adoptive families to pursue a primary, secondary and university education so that they can ultimately become leaders in fostering economic and social reconciliation as well as a safe place to play and interact.
RVCP has worked in partnership with LLCCM since 2005 and organises a series of teaching modules. After class, the volunteers have dinner with the orphans, often providing a much needed role model with helpful advice.
The project
Teaching Sessions
RVCP often take part in teaching sessions during the weekends covering topics including civic education, children rights, hygiene , malaria and HIV/AIDS awareness, English lessons and others. They have also begun a new project which involves educating the host families on family planning, HIV/AIDS awareness and gender empowerment.
Food Security Project
With the help of the guardian parents, the orphanage produces different crops to insure that the orphans have enough food. In addition to different crops produced, the orphanage keeps milk-cows to improve protein intake of the orphans. RVCP volunteers often take part in teaching the host families agricultural skills and supporting theirwork in the field.
